 Greetings!
I am recruiting graduate students for the Master of Sacred Music in vocal performance at the University of Notre Dame: a fully-funded programthat combines the performance studies of a Master of Music degree with graduate-level training in sacred music and liturgy. Students grow as vocal artists through constant solo performance opportunities and studies in art song, oratorio, early & contemporary music, choral singing, diction, conducting, keyboard, theory, musicology, and liturgy. Students can also be involved in opera performance through Opera Notre Dame. Our goal is to nurture entrepreneurial singing artists who can work in broad-ranging repertoires and careers as professional soloists, choristers, vocal ensemble leaders, and church music directors, or pursue doctoral studies to become teachers and professors.
We seek students with exceptional vocal talent, superb musicianship, proficiency in keyboard and conducting, and an interest in sacred music. The concentration is intentionally small (8 singers), so that students receive maximum faculty attention and performance opportunities and collaborate closely with their colleagues in the organ performance and choral conducting concentrations.
All students in our MSM program receive full tuition fellowships as well as a generous stipend through an internship. Typical internship assignments for vocal performance students include singing in the Notre Dame Repertory & Recital Choirs and working as co-directors in the Notre Dame Children’s Choir. Details about the program, faculty, and application/admission can be found at our website: www.sacredmusic.nd.edu. If you know of any prospective students, I would appreciate hearing from you and I would be happy to contact them.
Thank you for your help and best wishes, Stephen Lancaster, A.Mus.D. Associate Professor of the Practice, Voice University of Notre Dame 217 Crowley Hall, Notre Dame, IN (574) 631-7832 (w) slancast@nd.edu www.stephenlancaster.net
